Basic Characteristics
- Description
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale Revised (WAIS-R) provides 3 IQ scores. There is a verbal IQ score, a performance IQ score, and a full scale IQ score. The verbal IQ score is made up of 6 verbal subscales, and the performance IQ score is made up of 5 performance subscales. Both the verbal and performance scales can be used alone. Within the verbal portion of the scale the 6 subscales include information and a measure of general knowledge, a digit span, vocabulary, arithmetic, comprehension, and simliarities. Within the performance portion of the tes the 5 subscales include picture copmletion, picture arrangement, block design, a digit symbol test, and object assembly. This WAIS-R is primarily a clinical instrument to measure adult and adolescent intelligence.
