Schizotypy is a psychological concept that describes a spectrum of personality characteristics and qualities related to schizophrenia and psychosis. Schizotypy exists in contrast to the typically categorical view of psychosis, that one either has it or does not.

Eugen Blueler was one of the first to discard the idea that there was a clear separation between sanity and madness. Instead he viewed psychosis as an extreme expression of thoughts and behaviors that can exisit at different levels throughout the general population. Hans Eysenck and Gordin Claridge were among the first to consider psychosis to be a variatoin of odd thoughts and behaviors by personality theory.
