Response Selection

Basic Characteristics

  • Description

Response selection is the mental process of choosing representation for appropriate motor behavior given particular environmental stimuli and ones current situation and goals. Many cognitive theories of response selection postulate a unitary process and in most, if not all tasks, one central response is chosen. There are various mental illnesses that are associated with response selection, such as ADHD and Schizophrenia.
