Pervasive Developmental Disorders-Not Otherwise Specified
CNP LEVEL: Syndrome

Basic Characteristics

  • Description

PDD-NOS is the diagnosis given to children who do not fit the criteria listed for either Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, or Childhood Disintegrative Disorder. They typically show significant deficits in social interaction, communication, and/or repetitive behaviors but do not meet the full diagnostic criteria for Autism or the other disorders. Social skills are usually less impaired than in classical autism.
