Dyslexia

  • Description

Dyslexia, like many other psychiatric disorders, is diagnosed through behavioral criteria. It is commonly thought of as a reading impairment due to a problem with phonological decoding. Dyslexics have characteristic differences in minicolumn architecture which contrast sharply with the profile seen in ASD brains. Dyslexics have a decreased number of minicolumns, a larger gyral window, decreased local connections and greater long range connections.
