Autism
Basic Characteristics
- Description
Autism is the most prevalent diagnosis given among the disorders in ASD. Like the other disorders in ASD, those diagnosed with autism have deficits in social and communication and show varying degrees of Repetitive Behavior. Those diagnosed with autism have deficits in each of the core areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders (social, communication, and repetitive behaviors). Diagnosis is based off of observation by a trained professional. Diagnostic criteria can be found at Autism Speaks
