Basic Characteristics
- Description
The Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS) assesses 5 symptom complexes to get clinical ratingsof negative symptoms in schizophrenia. The symptom complexes include affective blunting, alogia (impoverished thinking), avolition/apathy, anhedonia/asociality, and disturbance of attention. Each of the five items is conducted on a 6 point scale with 0 meaning not at all and 6 meaning severe. Rating are made on each negative symptom cluster after each item contained within in various complex scores has been considered.
